About the Presenter

Lisa Harrison

Lisa Harrison holds an degree with distinction in media and communications from the Queensland University of Technology. Lisa has been actively involved in media for her entire career. Lisa has over twelve years experience as a marketing and media professional having headed up marketing programs for the RNA (Brisbane Ekka) and Birch Carrol and Coyle Cinemas.

As a media professional Lisa has been at the forefront of the emergence of new media and its penetration into business-to-business communications.

Lisa joined POMO in 2008 to head up the company’s strategic move into new media with a particular emphasis on Social Media.

Since then, Lisa has conducted research and collaborated with industry to build a considerable knowledge base on social media marketing. Lisa is currently conducting research into the uptake of social media by businesses in South East Queensland and is working on a book.

As well as working with a number of organisations to help them take the lead through social media marketing. Lisa has been actively engaged with the following key projects and activities

  • Social Media policy and guidelines formulation for a Queensland charity that works with homeless and at risk youth. Given the sensitivity of the relationship in community sector organisations and the potential for social media networks to pose challenges to such organisations the charity sought the professional assistance of Lisa to draft appropriate guidelines and strategies for managing these risks.
  • Social Media policy and guidelines formulation for a Brisbane based criminal defence law firm. This organisation asked Lisa to assist in constructing an appropriate strategy for connecting with clients through social media networks while at the same time ensuring issues of lawyer-client-privilege and other privacy issues were managed correctly.
  • Social Media marketing strategy formulation for a number of small businesses who have sought Lisa’s help to not only establish and on-line social media presence but determine the best way to achieve strategic marketing objectives through social media. Clients of this one-to-one consultancy service have ranged from health professionals to travel agents through to IT companies.
  • Social Media seminars. Lisa runs seminars ranging from basic to advanced and helps people and businesses to harness the power of social media - strategically. 

Lisa is an active member of the Sunshine Coast Business Women’s Network and has worked with many of its members to help them with social media marketing (including the Women’s network itself).
